    2. Check Your Registration

Why check your registration? Your address is where election officials send notices, application forms to receive your ballot in the mail, and more. Additionally, poll workers will check if the address on your voter registration matches the address on your ID at the polls.

    3. Voter ID Law

    Source: Ballotpedia

Nevada does not require voters to present identification while voting, in most cases. A voter in Nevada must sign his or her name in the election board register at his or her polling place. The signature is compared with the signature on the voter’s original application to vote or another form of identification, such as a driver’s license, a state identification card, military identification, or another government-issued ID.

    4. Order Your Absentee Mail Ballot

Deadline to apply for Absentee Mail Ballot: Must be received by October 20, 2024

All registered voters will receive a ballot by mail. Ballots will be sent to actively registered voters between October 16 – October 22, 2024. You can request to opt out by submitting this form: https://www.nvsos.gov/sos/home/showpublisheddocument/13305/638478223678570000

Nevada’s Effective Absentee System for Elections, or EASE is available to Nevada residents with disabilities and/or living overseas. EASE is available for elections with a federal contest on the ballot 45 days before Election Day at https://www.nvsos.gov/EASE/.

Contact your County clerk to find out drop off locations in your county: https://www.nvsos.gov/sos/elections/voters/county-clerk-contact-information

Deadline to return Absentee Mail Ballot: Must be postmarked by November 5, 2024 or returned in person by 7:00 PM Election Day

    Surrendering Your Absentee Ballot:

Nevada does have a version of the surrender rule. If a voter does surrender their mail-in ballot, they will be allowed to vote in-person with a regular ballot. (In the future, that voter will have to re-apply for permanent mail/absentee ballot as a consequence.) If a voter does not have their mail ballot on them, they will be still allowed to vote, but they will have to vote provisionally.

Voting In-Person Instead of by Mail

If you requested a Mail/Absentee Ballot, you still have the option of voting on an electronic voting machine at an early voting site or Election Day Vote Center.

You will need to do one of the following when you vote in-person instead of by mail:

    • If You Have Your Mail Ballot:
      • Surrender your voted or unvoted mail/absentee ballot (preferably in the packet sent to you) to an election official at the voting site. The official will ask you for identification before processing you to vote.
    • If You Do Not Have Your Mail Ballot:
      • You will sign an affirmation at the voting site swearing that you have not already voted in the current election and that you understand no one may to attempt to vote or actually vote more than once in the same election. An election official will verify your affirmation against Election Department records.
