2024 ALASKA VOTER GUIDE
1.Voter Registration
Deadline to Register: October 6, 2024
2. Check Your Registration
Why check your registration? Your address is where election officials send notices, application forms to receive your ballot in the mail, and more. Additionally, poll workers will check if the address on your voter registration matches the address on your ID at the polls.
Update your Registration Online
Checklist:
- Is your name spelled correctly? (Correct hyphenations, middle initials, etc)
- Correct Address
- Active Voter Status (if not update by sending in another online/mail voter application)
- Correct Date of Birth
- Take a photo or screenshot of your completed registration, and take it with you to the polls.
3. Voter ID Law
Alaska requires voters to present non-photo identification (ID) while voting. Accepted forms of ID include voter ID cards, driver’s licenses, state ID, and U.S. passports. For a list of accepted forms of ID, see below:
- Voter ID card
- Driver’s license
- State ID
- Other photo ID
- Passport
- Hunting or fishing license
If you do not have the one of the identifications listed above, you may present a current utility bill or paycheck, government check or bank statement or other government issued document. These documents must have your current residence address.
4. Order Your Absentee Mail Ballot
Deadline to Order Absentee Mail Ballot: October 26, 2024

Deadline to return absentee mail Ballot:
Must be postmarked on or before November 5, 2024 (Election Day)
Ballot can either be mailed or hand-delivered to any Division of Elections office or any Voting Location. Find your local Division of Elections here: https://www.elections.alaska.gov/contact-information/
Surrendering Your Absentee Ballot:
Alaska has the Surrender Rule. If you received your absentee mail ballot, but prefer to vote in person, you can surrender (exchange) your unvoted mail-in absentee ballot at the polling place on Election Day for a regular ballot.

5. Early Voting Information
In-person Absentee and Early voting is available from October 21 – November 4, 2024.
Early and in person absentee voting locations are posted on the Alaska Division of Elections website: https://www.elections.alaska.gov/avo/
Early voting locations are indicated in red.
6. Be A Poll Worker
Become a poll worker!
Poll workers must be 16+ years old and be a registered voter (if 18 and over) in their county. Send in an application to your regional office:
